BUCS Weekly sports round up: Football Feast for the New Year

Football was the main focus this week with the both the Men’s and Women’s first teams grabbing wins.

Biba wishing the football teams good luck

Women’s firsts thrash Holloway

The first team beat Royal Holloway 8-0 in a belter of a game.

The team had four key players out going into it. So it was the case of calling up some of the second teams players.
Chloe Woolaway said: “Everyone played incredibly well, which was great to see what with Varsity right around the corner.
“We had majority possession throughout and Royal Holloway only managed two shots on target all game, so that was a massive positive to take from the match.
“Lovely start to the new year and very proud off all the girls.
“Onto next week where we face Essex at Home”
Right-winger Jaidene Browne was the woman of the match, after giving a superb performance and bagging the opening goal of the game.
The Girls were on fire this week.

Men’s first team win Medway friendly

Men’s first team played a friendly against Medway winning 4-2.
The goals coming from Max Brunetti-Leach, Louie Debnam, Adam Williams and Danio Brown.
It was their second friendly in the space of five days having beat a strong Chatham Town U21 team 2-0 on Saturday.
Ollie Mentessi said: “This puts us in good shape for our upcoming games and Varsity.”

Away defeat for Mens seconds

The second team were on the end of a 2-1 defeat at a tricky away tie against University of Hertfordshire Mens second team.

After the defeat the boys stay top, but are level on 12 points with King’s College who share the same goal difference of seven.

First league loss for Men’s fourth team

Elsewhere, men’s football fourth team lost 2-1 against Queen Mary’s. Which was their first league loss of the season.
