This is the moment Canterbury bouncers were attacked by a group of drinkers.
A Canterbury security firm have released footage from their archive to educate the public of the dangers they face in their job. The incident happened outside one of Canterbury’s most popular nightclubs, after the group were asked to leave.
The 3-minute brawl, involves 10 people being thrown to the floor as the group rage against the doormen who asked them to leave.
Director of ‘AKON’ who are Canterbury’s main security provider, Oli Nonis told us how they have recently introduced body cameras as a vital part of their uniform since this incident for safety reasons.
Mr Nonis said: “We [security guards] are often painted in a bad light as people label us as being aggressive and unreasonable which is why we put the body camera’s in place to prove a point.”
Between July 2016-2017 there were 59 arrests made in Canterbury for drunk and disorderly behaviour, 20 being female and 39 being male. Many overlook the role of a security guard, which is why AKON have released footage to highlight their struggle.
The incident in the footage happened in 2013.
