A Fresher’s Guide to CCCU Term Dates

Freshers, here are important CCCU term dates that you’ll need to mark in your diary. Save this page, you’ll need it.

CCCU fresher term dates aren’t exactly straight forward, new educational institute has different style of term dates, universities don’t have half term for a start, but we do get a week off – where you are expected to do coursework.

The term dates are something that students ask all year round, so we’ve broken it down for you.

First of all, the year is split into two semesters: Advent Semester and Easter Semester.

Advent Semester

The first semester starts on the 24th September and goes right through Christmas. It finishes on the Friday before Easter Semester, 18th January.

You will get a reading week, now called an ‘Academic Development Week’, normally in October. These are course specific and will be in your course handbook on Blackboard and will have various activities.  (Unified will even have a Newsday that anyone can come along to.)

The last fortnight of Advent Semester (7-18th January) is the examination period, so expect the library to be full for the entirety of January.

Christ Church breaks up for Christmas on the 14th December and comes back the 2nd January.

Easter Semester

The second semester starts on the 21st January and continues until the end of your first year at Christ Church which is the 17th May.

Easter breaks up the semester with a two weeks off where you will be preparing for exams, between the 15-26th April.

Easter Semester’s examination period is between the 7-17th May.
