Freshers’ Week 2018: Fashion Essentials You’ll Need for University

Student shopping night (Thursday October 4) is nearly here! Here’s a few things you should have on your shopping list.

Students are eager to start what is known as ‘Living Their Best Life’ with that being said, we know it can be intimidating because there’s so many things to consider. Will I make new friends? What society should I join? How do I cook? It does get a bit overwhelming.

Student Shopping Night: Where, When and What?

First impressions count and there is one thing you won’t have to worry about-what to wear. Being a student myself, I know what essentials helped me get through my first year so here’s some wardrobe essentials you’ll need to survive your first year.

1. Comfy Trainers

You might have this idea that you’ll be dressing up for all your lectures but the reality is that you’ll hardly have the time and will be rushing to class so a pair of trendy, yet comfy trainers will definitely be your go-to for all those dreaded 9 a.m. lectures.

 2. Hoodie

Seems obvious right? But I could NOT have survived uni without one. Whether you choose a pull-over or a zipped hoodie it doesn’t need to be fancy the rule is as long as it’s comfy!

You’ll be lounging around in it doing your essays and revision and no matter how long your day is, putting on your favourite hoodie and sipping on a cup of tea just makes writing that essay a little less daunting.

Hoodies are also perfect for the colder days ahead as the majority come with warm pockets that you can put your hands in. You can personalize any classic hoodie to show your contemporary style and hoodies now come with a kangaroo pouch pocket that has a small hidden opening for earphones-perfect for you music lovers!

Did you know that you can purchase a CCCU hoodie from the student shop? They come in a range of colours and you’re guaranteed to find one just for you. Click the link to purchase one now.

3. Zipper Bag

This is a MUST have for lectures and seminars. It needs to be big enough to fit everything you need like your books, laptop and notebooks. As well as your Tesco meal deal when you find out just how expensive food from the uni cafe is.

4. Dressing Gown

EVERY student should own one because in the cooler months, everyone practically lives in them. Student halls don’t always have good heating, and when you’re in a shared house for second year, if your house doesn’t include bills in the rent, no one will want to pay to put the heating on.

You’ll realize that you’ll be wearing your dressing gown more often than normal, but that’s okay we ALL do!

6. Bodycon Dress

After Freshers’ Week, there’ll still be a lot of parties, events and nights out. You can never go wrong with a bodycon dress, that you can dress up or down with trainers. You don’t have to spend all your student loan on expensive LBDs, especially when shots are involved. Your favourite high-street shops have the infamous ‘little black dress’ as well as the current neon trend bodycon.
