Additional Christmas markets given the go ahead for Canterbury High Street

In the run up to the holidays, Canterbury City Council granted permission for more temporary Christmas stalls.

Today, CCC granted permission for the additional festive pop-up stalls, which are scheduled to make their first appearance on Saturday 17, this weekend.

Shoppers will be able to enjoy all that the markets have to offer from 6 am until eight at night throughout the week, including Sundays and Bank Holidays.

It was agreed that the shops were granted for this coming holiday as well as next year’s festivities.

Stalls are due to be set up along the High Street from Longmarket Square and along St George’s Street to Clock Tower Square, next to Fenwicks.

The regular market stalls during and in the middle of the week will not be replaced.

In the planning application is was stated that: “Additional Christmas street markets in 2018 and 2019 over and above the current Wednesday and Friday general markets.”

This new 2018 feature will be held alongside the annual Whitefrairs Christmas fair.
