11 facts about Marilyn Manson you didn’t know

In an age of poppy music and autotune, we want to take you back to the genre of hard rock. Here’s a few things you didn’t know about Marilyn Manson. 

1. His real name is ‘Brian Hugh Warner’ 

His stage name derives from the famous Marilyn Monroe, as well as his surname from the well-known criminal and cult leader, Charles Manson.

2. Music journo 

Before Manson became a rock star, he pursued a career in music journalism,

He worked alongside a magazine named ’25th Parallel’.

While he was working as a journalist, he started his own band called ‘Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids’ who later went on to release their debut album called ‘The Raw Boned Psalms’ in 1989.

3. Shooters were apparently influenced by music from Marilyn Manson

After the Columbine shooting in 1999 it was said that the shooters, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, where ‘influenced’ by Manson‘s music.

However, after this, Manson claimed that he does not promote suicide or hate.

He also stated that being blamed for columbine almost ruined his whole career.

4. Marilyn was in a famous TV show

Recently, Marilyn was in the hit TV show ‘Sons of Anarchy’, where he played Ron Tully for the final seasons of the show.

He’s also been in a show called ‘Californication’ and He has also had music featured in the Vampire Diaries and Matrix.

Marilyn’s showreel also includes starring roles in a variety of movies.

 5.  Depp and Manson Friendship

Who knew? They’re close friends to a point they have two matching tattoos in honour of their friendship.

Both having the phrase ‘no reason’ tattooed on their wrists as well as ”Charles Baudelaire, the flower of evil, this giant skeleton thing” on their backs.

Manson and Depp very often perform together, it was rumoured that after Twiggy left the band, Depp could supposedly take his place.

It was also said that he used Manson as inspiration for his role as Willy Wonka, in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005).
