BUCS Weekly Round Up: Men’s Basketball remain undefeated

BUCS Weekly Round Up is here! Team Christ Church were back in action this Wednesday and there were some promising results with varsity just around the corner.

Men’s Basketball

The boys beat beat Anglia Ruskin 81-49 to remain undefeated in BUCS.

With the team being undefeated it surely sets them well for varsity which is only a few weeks away

Men’s Hockey

The first team took the long journey to Portsmouth on Wednesday a won 2-1 in what was described as a ‘gritty affair’

Captain Will Giltrow said: “The gents from Men’s Hockey 1’s braced a tricky away day on the South coast. Despite having to deal with dubious umpiring, dubious sledging and dubious match preparation the lads scraped a gritty 2-1 smash and grab win.

“Skippers player of the match, Thomas Degiovanni for delivering a controlled midfield performance despite being targeted by the Portsmouth players”

Netball 2’s

The girls faced had a tough game against top of the league side Queen Mary’s but that didn’t stop them from bringing home the win!

The second team won 50-40 with captain Emmy Sheehan giving her captains player award to Daisy for her ‘amazing shooting and movement around the D’

Netball 4’s

The fourth team won their tight game 29/28 against Kings with only 6 players!

Captain Charlotte Davern said: “Player of the match, Eleanor O’Brien for moving and running into the D well”

Men’s Football 1’s

The first team won 3-2 against Imperial making it six wins from five as a newly promoted team!

Captain Aaron Elliot said: “Player of the match Waiel Hassan. Lots of creativity and never lost the ball.”

The first team are getting some good results right before varsity

Men’s Tennis 1’s

The boys won 12-0 against Queen Mary’s 1st team. Captain Scott Bradley Williams said: “Player of the match James Linghorn. Went to 3 sets in his singles but kept fighting with a high level of Tennis”

Women’s Basketball

The girls unfortunately lost their game against Middlesex 53-39. The team did however only have seven players but that didn’t stop them from fighting to the very end.

Captain Eftychia Panayiotou said: “Niamh Mooney was the MVP for our game for her amazing determination and great shooting.”

Netball 1’s

The first team unfortunately lost 61-42. Their player of the match was Katie Hurley!

It was defeat for our first team!

Netball 3’s

The third team lost 47-35 against the University of Kent!

Captain Abi Bartlett said her players of the match were Moly Sanderson and Maddy Gibbs.

Women’s Lacrosse

Unfortunately the girls lost their match 17-4.

Captain Poppy Martinez said: “Sophie Giles was our captains player, playing amazingly in both defence and attack she also scored an amazing goal running all the way up the pitch”

Women’s Volleyball

The girls were beaten by UEL. But player of the match was Gabriella Benton who threw herself into the game and kept positive throughout.

It wasn’t meant to be for the girls this week. But there is still time for improvements before varsity.
