In 1989, 43 children are born unexpectedly but the crazy thing is they were born to unconnected women who showed absolutely no signs of pregnancy.

Seven of the children are adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a millionaire industrialist who creates the obscure ‘Umbrella Academy’ and prepares his ‘children’ to save the world.

The show is about catching up with whats left of the families, after many years after the comic book franchise was released.

The rather strange bunch are reunited in their 30s upon the news of Hargreeves’ death, they’re set on a mission to solve the mystery of how their father died.

The question is can the diverse personalities get through what is about to come their way?

Based around a comic book franchise that was released in the early 2000’s, created and written by Gerard  Way. The Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite was a six-issue series of graphic novels, with gothic styling, mysterious themes and a dark sense of humour.

It then won an Eisner Award a comic industry equivalent to the Oscars and then shortly after it got picked up for a film.

Gerard Way said: ”For a while I just ignored it, but then I had two meetings with Netflix, and they really wanted it.”
