Do you want to get into the festive spirit? Then this is the perfect opportunity.
The Marlowe website calls this “A cracker of a musical” and that it certainly is.
The story follows the children from St Bernadette’s School as they attempt to make a musical out of the traditional nativity. Their problem is that class teacher Mr Maddens has falsely promised that a Hollywood producer is coming to see the show and turn it into a film.
When teaching assistant Mr Poppy joins the class to bring a whole lot of sparkle and shine, the musical follows the children and teachers as they struggle to make everybody’s Christmas wish come true.
So many sing along, feel good songs including Sparkle and Shine, Nazareth and Good News mean that you cannot help but smile when you’re watching this show.
The show is only running at The Marlowe from Wednesday 13th to Sunday 17th November, with both matinee and evening show tickets being available here.
The ticket prices range from the bargain price of £15 right up to £64.
It was potentially the quickest 2 hours and 20 minutes ever, constantly making you laugh the whole way through.
UNIfied’s favourite character of the show was without a doubt the incredible Scott Paige who played Mr Poppy. He cracked one liners throughout the show and his voice was show stopping. He majorly stood out for us as the star of the show and we can’t wait to see him in so many more shows in the future.
The vast amount of children in the show and their incredible performance was something to be admired, they have such talent at such a young age. It certainly will leave you feeling inspired (or worn out).
Something else that really stood out for us was the costumes, the gold sparkly star head pieces and the children dressed as the buildings as part of the Nazareth set were our personal favourites.
What other news outlets have to say about the show:
“A feel good bonanza” The Times
“A warm-hearted show” WhatsOnStage
“Packed with joy” Birmingham Mail
What UNIfied have to say about the show:
Fun, festive and fantastically fabulous. Definitely not one to be missed!
