Our boys came second in their group at the weekend in the BUCs last 16 to progress through to the final stages of the competition in Cardiff later this month.
The team won two out of their three games on Saturday beating Westminster and Oxford Brooks University and beaten by Cardiff Met University (amid controversy.)
Captain Jack Wheeler has described this season as ‘unexpected’.
He said: “At the beginning of the day I described it as ‘The Unexpected Journey’ and to say that journey is going to continue, what an achievement! Little old Christ Church are heading to Cardiff to go play in the Final 8 of indoor cricket. Not many people would have called that, including myself.
“As captain those who played were exceptional, after a defeat in our first game to Cardiff Met we pulled it together to win both our second and third game against Oxford Brooks and Westminster. Then that was that we had qualified. What a feeling.
“Now all that can be said is roll on Cardiff on the 29th February where ‘The Unexpected Journey’ will continue.”
This is the second time in three years that the cricket team have gotten through to the final eight in the county.
University of Kent also progressed through to the final eight and so to have both first teams going into the finals means cricket could be the biggest and closest match at Varsity this year
Good luck to our boys for the final.
