Why ‘I’m Not Okay With This’ will be your next Netflix binge

Netflix has always been the one for the most binge-worthy shows, for the days where it’s raining outside and you just want to be tucked up in bed.

The new seven-part series ‘I Am Not Okay With This‘ was released yesterday and if you haven’t yet you must give it a watch! It only has twenty-minute long episodes, so it’s a pretty easy watch and you’ll get through it in no time.

The new teen comedy/drama series is one for you, if you’re a lover of Netflix originals Stranger Things and The End of the F***ing World then you’re sure to be hooked on this one. It’s witty and mysterious. There is also romance, teen drama and loads more to delve into.

What’s it about?

The idea for the series was originated from the graphic novel by Charles Forsman in 2017, with the same title.

Co-created by director and executive producer Jonathan Entwistle and writer Chrissy Hall. Netflix describes the show as an ”irreverent origin story.” The series is based around a teenage girl named Sydney. Who goes on a journey throughout high school, emphasising the daily struggles that teenage life encounters and the trails that high school has to offer. Whilst juggling family issues, her sexuality, as well as everything else.

What she soon comes to reliase is the mysterious superpowers that take over when she’s angry, later begin to reveal something dark about her.

Who’s starring in it?

Sydney is played by Sophia Lillis, best known for her iconic role in IT chapters one and two playing young Beverly Marsh. Wyatt Oleff plays Stanley Barber, who also played alongside Lillis in IT as young Stanley Uris. Sofia Bryant plays Dina who is Sydney’s best friend. Best known for starring in TV show Blue Bloods. Richard Ellis takes on the role of Brad, Dina’s boyfriend.

Kathleen Rose Perkins plays Maggie who is the mother of Sydney and Liam. She is commonly known for her role on Fresh Off the Boat. Liam, who is Sydney’s younger brother is played by Aidan Wojtak-Hissong. He recently starred in the 2019 cartoon Butterbean’s Cafe.
