CCCU responds to rise in COVID-19 cases on campus

Canterbury Christ Church University reported 40 positive COVID-19 cases between students and staff over the past two weeks.

The university continues to try and slow the spread of the virus by asking students and staff to sanitise regularly, wear masks and maintain social distancing.

The University Press Office gave UNIfied a statement regarding the rise in cases and positive tests:

The health and safety of our students, staff and local community are our most important priorities as we continue to live with Coronavirus. We’re doing all we can to ensure that we follow government guidance and liaise closely with the Health Protection teams in Canterbury and Medway so everyone in our community feels supported, safe and informed.

“There are 15,000 students and 1,800 staff, so that the number of positive cases is relatively low compared to the amount of people attending.”

The university remains confident that the Coronavirus situation is under control on campus.
