This week saw Craig return to the judging panel, as well as the return of stand-in judge Cynthia Erivo – this week it was Motsi who could not participate in the show.
Motsi’s absence was due to her being ‘pinged’ by the NHS Test and Trace app – she wouldn’t have had to isolate had she received her COVID vaccines in the UK, but as she lives in Germany and was vaccinated there, her vaccines are not recognised in this country. She is allowed to return to the show next week after her isolation period, all being well.
So, how did everyone do this week?
Rose & Giovanni – Paso Doble (Score: 33/40, -4 since last week)
Dancing to Sia’s ‘California Dreamin’’, she and Giovanni scored 33 – an 8 from Craig, an 8 from Cynthia, an 8 from Shirley and a 9 from Anton.
Dan & Nadiya – Rumba (Score: 31/40, no change since last week)
Dancing to The Eagles’s ‘Desperado’, he and Nadiya scored 31 from the judges – a 6 from Craig, a 9 from Cynthia, an 8 from Shirley and an 8 from Anton.
AJ & Kai – Couple’s Choice (Score: 36/40, -2 since last week)
Dancing their Couple’s Choice to Janelle Monáe’s ‘Make Me Feel’, she and Kai scored 36 – a 9 from Craig, an 8 from Cynthia, a *10* from Shirley and a 9 from Anton.
Rhys & Nancy – Waltz (Score: 35/40, +3 since last week)
Dancing to Whitney Houston’s ‘You Light Up My Life’, he and Nancy scored a 35 from the judges – a 7 from Craig, a 9 from Cynthia, a *10* from Shirley and a 9 from Anton.
Tilly & Nikita – Samba (Score: 30/40, -10 since last week)
Dancing to Dua Lipa’s ‘Levitating’, she and Nikita scored 30 from the judges – a 7 from Craig, a 7 from Cynthia, an 8 from Shirley and an 8 from Anton.
Although it must have been slightly disheartening to drop 10 points from their perfect score last week, they could take comfort in the fact that the Samba is arguably the most difficult dance for an amateur to perform well.
John & Johannes – Argentine Tango (Score: 39/40, +7 since last week)
Closing the show with a BANG to David Garrett’s ‘The 5th’, he and Johannes scored an almost perfect 39 – a 9 from Craig, a *10* from Cynthia, a *10* from Shirley and a *10* from Anton.
How did the leaderboard look?
John and Johannes topped the leaderboard with 39, and Tilly and Nikita finished last with 30.
Who was in the Dance Off, and how did it go?
This week, Rhys and Nancy were up against Tilly and Nikita – the third dance-off for both pairs.
(Special mention HAS to go to Nikita’s ‘dancing shirt’ this week. Arguably realising it would be their last dance, Nikita took his shirt off, whipped it round a bit – and then realised it had to stay floating around because his mic pack was attached to it!)
Craig, Cynthia and Anton all voted to save Rhys and Nancy, which sent Tilly and Nikita home.
Shirley agreed and said that she would have saved Rhys and Nancy if she could have voted.
Any news before Week Eleven?
Nothing new to report, except that Motsi should be back next week.
