Strictly 2021: Week Eleven – The Quarter-Final!

Was it just me, or did this week feel INSANELY short?! With only five couples performing, and each of them only doing one routine, Week Eleven seemed to be over before it had properly got going! Nonetheless, the week wasn’t lacking in dramatic content. Read on for the details!

So, how did everyone do this week?

John & Johannes – Salsa (Score: 32/40, -7 since last week)

Dancing to Sister Sledge’s ‘We Are Family’, he and Johannes scored 32 from the judges – a 7 from Craig, an 8 from Motsi, an 8 from Shirley and a 9 from Anton.

This was a fantastic routine, but right at the end Johannes made a mistake that cost them a few points. As they got to Tess, he apologised and said: “I gave him the wrong hand!”

This meant that the final lift didn’t work, and John had to drop him.

Other than that – iconic!

Charlotte’s rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Rhys & Nancy – Argentine Tango (Score: 39/40, +4 since last week)

Dancing to Phil Collins’s ‘In The Air Tonight’, he and Nancy scored an almost perfect 39 – a 9 from Craig, a *10* from Motsi, a *10* from Shirley and a *10* from Anton.

This was absolutely unreal – a strong contender for my favourite routine for the season.

Charlotte’s rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Rose & Giovanni – American Smooth (Score: 39/40, +6 since last week)

Dancing to Natalie Cole’s ‘This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)’, she and Giovanni scored a nearly flawless 39 – a 9 from Craig, a *10* from Motsi, a *10* from Shirley and a *10* from Anton.

Charlotte’s rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Dan & Nadiya – Tango (Score: 31/40, no change since last week)

Dancing to Gotan Project’s ‘Santa María (del Buen Ayre)’, he and Nadiya scored 31 from the judges – a 7 from Craig, an 8 from Motsi, a 9 from Shirley and a 7 from Anton.

Charlotte’s rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

AJ & Kai – Salsa (Score: 30/40, -6 since last week)

Dancing to Gloria Estefan’s ‘Rhythm Is Gonna Get You’/’Get on Your Feet’, she and Kai scored 30 – a 7 from Craig, an 8 from Motsi, an 8 from Shirley and a 7 from Anton.

The routine was good on the whole, but the struggle with the lift at the end was way too much to get a higher score.

Charlotte’s rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

How did the leaderboard look?

Rhys and Nancy and Rose and Giovanni took joint first place with 39, and AJ and Kai finished last with 30.

Who was in the Dance Off, and how did it go?

This week, AJ and Kai were up against Dan and Nadiya – this was Dan’s first time in the dance-off.

Craig, Motsi and Anton all voted to save AJ and Kai, which sent Dan and Nadiya home.

Shirley said that she would have also saved AJ and Kai if she could have voted.

As Dan had been a weaker performer for a few weeks, many viewers were pleased at the result.
However, Dan has only been at the bottom of the leaderboard once, and even that was a joint-last finish.

Any news before Week Twelve?

No news yet. Fingers crossed for a chaos-free semi-final!
