Strictly 2021: Week Twelve – The Semi-Final

This week’s show was almost twice the length of last week’s – we were spoilt! The four semifinalists had to perform not one but TWO routines to impress both the judges and us at home, in order to earn a place in the coveted grand final next weekend.

So, how did everyone do this week?

Rhys & Nancy – Tango (Score: 36/40, -3 since last week)

Dancing to Queen’s ‘One Vision’, he and Nancy scored 36 from the judges – a 9 from Craig, a 9 from Motsi, a 9 from Shirley and a 9 from Anton.

AJ & Kai – Quickstep (Score: 40/40, +10 since last week)

Dancing to Benny Goodman’s ‘Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing)’, she and Kai earned a perfect 40 – a *10* from Craig, a *10* from Motsi, a *10* from Shirley and a *10* from Anton!

John & Johannes – Couple’s Choice (Score: 39/40, +7 since last week)

Dancing an emotional ‘interpretive dance’-style Couple’s Choice to Adele’s ‘Hometown Glory’, he and Johannes scored a near flawless 39 – a 9 from Craig, a *10* from Motsi, a *10* from Shirley and a *10* from Anton.

Rose & Giovanni – Waltz (Score: 39/40, no change since last week)

Dancing to Ellie Goulding’s ‘How Long Will I Love You?’, her and Giovanni’s beautiful routine scored an almost perfect 39 – a 9 from Craig, a *10* from Motsi, a *10* from Shirley and a *10* from Anton.

Rhys & Nancy – Samba (Score: 38/40, +2 since previous dance)

Dancing to Michael Bublé’s ‘It Had Better Be Tonight (Meglio stasera)’, he and Nancy shimmied their way to a near perfect 38 – a 9 from Craig, a *10* from Motsi, a *10* from Shirley and a 9 from Anton.

AJ & Kai – Rumba (Score: 39/40, -1 since previous dance)

Dancing a sensual routine from start to finish to Maria McKee’s ‘Show Me Heaven’, she and Kai scored a near flawless 39 – a 9 from Craig, a *10* from Motsi, a *10* from Shirley and a *10* from Anton.

John & Johannes – Jive (Score: 39/40, no change since previous dance)

Dancing to Coldplay’s ‘Higher Power’, he and Johannes scored an almost perfect 39 from the judges – a 9 from Craig, a *10* from Motsi, a *10* from Shirley and a *10* from Anton.

Rose & Giovanni – Argentine Tango (Score: 40/40, +1 since previous dance)

In an incredible end to the show, her and Giovanni’s routine to Eduardo Rovira’s ‘A Evaristo Carriego’ scored a perfect 40 – a *10* from Craig, a *10* from Motsi, a *10* from Shirley and a *10* from Anton!

How did the leaderboard look?

  • AJ and Kai and Rose and Giovanni both scored 79/80
  • John and Johannes scored 78/80
  • Rhys and Nancy scored 74/80

Who was in the Dance Off, and how did it go?

This week, John and Johannes were up against Rhys and Nancy – this was John’s first dance-off, and Rhys’s fourth.

Craig, Motsi and Anton unanimously voted to save John and Johannes, which sent Rhys and Nancy home.

Shirley agreed and said that she would have saved John and Johannes if she could have voted.

The final of Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday at 7:00pm on BBC One, with one last week of It Takes Two at 6:30pm each night in the lead-up to it!
