Jonathan Fitter-Harding of Pride Canterbury said: “We can’t wait to bring the LGBTQ+ community in Canterbury together for another year. We’re always overwhelmed with the amount of support we receive from everyone, including our generous sponsors who allow us to put on such an incredible event.”

In an interview with UNIfied, he emphasised the important role their sponsors play in making the day happen.

“This event is free and we’re still really committed to staying as a free event so there are no barriers for anyone and anyone can and enjoy the day,” he said.

“But to do that, we need our sponsors. Our event is purely funded by sponsors and the support that they give us, so we’re really lucky to have some great sponsors and we’ll hopefully be announcing some more of them soon.”

Pride Canterbury are expecting over 20,000 people to attend the event this June, and are already receiving lots of support via social media.

With people already putting the date in their diary and sharing their excitement on social media, Mr Fitter-Harding said the Pride Canterbury team feed off that, and it gives them the energy to keep pushing.

He added, that they are extremely excited for the day and cannot wait to see everyone enjoying themselves.
